Cosplayer Of The Month Questions
What city are you based in?
I'm based in Vancouver, BC.
Can you tell us about your first cosplay?
It was Gou from Free! I did it at school in Grade 8 on pajama day. Yes at school and yes, on pajama day. I was feeling reckless that day!
Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?
Most definitely my Judar wig, it took so many hours to make and perfect it. It gets destroyed after every con though since I'm not very gentle with my cosplays. I've probably spent 25 hours on it so far, undergoing repairs from cons and what not.
What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?
I hope that I can inspire others to cosplay and even get out of their comfort zone to try something new, no matter how difficult it may seem. You can do it.
Is there a local cosplayer that you look up to or inspires you?
My friends, each and every one of them are all so talented. They all motivate me to do my best. Especially my best friend Avai, she's inspired me endlessly.
If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?
Just have fun, there's no perfect way to cosplay, and everyone starts somewhere. In my eyes, if you enjoy the character you're cosplaying and you're having fun, then there's not much advice to give. Don't stress it! Don't be hard on yourself. Don't compare yourself to others. You're amazing! Also, if you're styling wigs, a blow dryer and hairspray goes a long way for spiking.
Do you have any “Cosplans” for 2021?
Too many LOL. I go with the flow a lot of the time with "Cosplans." My main plans so far are Akechi from Persona 5 and Tifa from Final Fantasy VII!
