Cosplayer Of The Month Questions

What city are you based in?

London, Ontario

Can you tell us about your first cosplay?

My first suit was my Green Arrow suit. Arrow was my favourite show for a long time, so being able to piece together my own suit meant a lot. I got the chance to meet Stephen Amell at FAN EXPO Canada in 2017, which was a dream come true. I made the bow out of a 3D printed kit, and it is still one of my proudest cosplay builds.

Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?

My Stormbreaker (Thor’s axe). I got a 3D-printed kit from JoelandProps and had to do a lot of work to put it together. Then, I had it painted by TorontoStarLord. This thing is huge and really completes my Thor Infinity War look.

In 2019, I got the chance to meet Chris Hemsworth. He LOVED the axe and insisted on holding it and swinging it around. That conversation was the coolest cosplay moment I’ve ever had!

What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?

I want to share my love of superheroes with others. The sense of community that cosplay brings is awesome, especially at conventions. Beyond that, I want to make people smile, bring my favourite heroes to life, and meet more people who love this stuff as much as I do.

If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?

The best advice I can give is to just do it! Regardless of skill level or experience, cosplay is a lot of fun. You’ll meet lots of people who love this stuff just as much as you do, and conventions are definitely better in cosplay.

Are there any local cosplayers that you look up to or inspire you?

TorontoStarLord is incredible. The dude has so much range! He’s also the one who convinced me to start a cosplay Instagram and get more involved in the community, so he’s definitely an inspiration.

Messiah Complex Cosplay is another great one. He does so much for the community and is always involved, and his stuff is awesome!

Finally, everyone at Hacksmith Industries blows my mind. Some of the stuff they build is insane! Talk about “making it real”.

In honour of Mother’s Day, who would you consider your “cosplay mom”?

Everyone throughout the years who has helped me navigate the cons while in my cosplays. Without you, I wouldn’t be able to have nearly as much fun at events. You guys are the best!
