IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CREW
Want to know how you can join our dynamic team and what’s involved?
Toronto Comic Con relies on its army of volunteers and team leads who commit their time, skills, and passion of comics and pop culture to help deliver the ultimate and unforgettable experience to our fans and visitors.
You could be keeping our Creator Guests fueled and fed, greeting and providing fans with direction and info, managing line control, presenting the Sorting Hat in the Family Zone, distributing much-needed goodies to your fellow Crew Members, or keeping a watchful gaze over Autograph and Photo Op lines and so much more.
There are many teams that make up Toronto Comic Con: Operations, Programming, Volunteer Support, Board Gaming, Family Zone, Exhibitor Support, Guest Services and many more. We do our best to connect each member with a team that fits their skillset and interest as they climb up the ranks.

VOLUNTEER FAQ
Common questions about Volunteering at Toronto Comicon.
Dress Code
- A Toronto Comicon Crew T-shirt will be provided.
- Casual dress code includes the following: jeans (without rips or tears), khakis, shorts, knee-length skirts or capri pants.
- Footwear – please wear comfortable shoes.
- Cosplay is permitted; however, your Crew T-shirt must be worn. All costumes must be approved in advance to ensure it does not limit your ability to perform your duties.
- Practice good personal hygiene. Avoid using excessive amounts of perfumes, colognes, and/or hairsprays that may cause a problem for allergy sufferers.
Volunteers are responsible for dressing according to this policy for their shifts and checking with supervisors about dress that is appropriate and safe to wear. In the case of a different dress requirement based on an activity or event, volunteers are responsible for ensuring they have the appropriate clothes for the shift.
Accessibility
Toronto Comicon is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment. Should you require an accommodation through any stage of the volunteer recruitment process, please make them known when contacted and we will work with you to meet your needs in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
How do I get involved?
We have a variety of ways for you to get involved to help create a FAN-tastic weekend for attendees. From assisting line-ups to working in panel rooms, supporting artists, and looking after other volunteers, we have an array of opportunities that are all just as important as the next.
When the volunteer applications are open, select the ‘Apply Now’ button above. This will lead you to a volunteer application form. Please complete this form, and once submitted your application will be reviewed by our team. If you are approved to volunteer, you will be emailed the next steps and any additional information.
Please note: There is a limited number of volunteer spots available, so please submit your application early!
What is the time commitment for volunteers?
Shift requirements vary depending on the show. When completing your volunteer application, the minimum number of shifts will be made clear, and you can select what days you are available.
What is the minimum age to volunteer?
16.
Are parking or transportation costs included?
Parking or transportation costs are not covered by FAN EXPO.
Are there any accommodations provided for volunteers who don’t live near the convention center?
Accommodations are not provided through FAN EXPO. All volunteers must provide their own accommodations if required.
Can I work in a specific area of the show?
When completing the volunteer application, you can select which teams you are most interested in joining. We will always try to place you with your number 1 team choice! However, we may need to place crew members in different areas of the show based on availability.
Can I work with my friend?
We do our best to accommodate all requests, but we cannot guarantee that friends will be placed on the same team. If you are carpooling with someone to the show, please be sure to include this information in your volunteer application and we will do our best to ensure you start and finish each shift at the same time.
Can I cosplay as my favourite character while on duty?
Yes, but please be mindful to wear your volunteer shirt and credentials on the outside of your costume. You must be visibly recognized as a show volunteer first. Also please keep in mind that anything covering your face (aside from a covid face mask) can make it difficult for our guests to hear you and, in some cases, hesitant to approach you. We like our guests to see the happy, smiling faces of all of our volunteers. When you are off duty you can, of course, remove your volunteer shirt, put on any facial coverings, and go full cosplay!
Can I get school volunteer credit hours?
Absolutely! If you require volunteer credit hours, connect with the volunteer coordinator when on-site. If you have worked all of the hours you signed up for we would be happy to sign your form.
