FAVE ANIME CHARACTERS

Here at FAN EXPO HQ, our team is always nerding out over the world of fandom. On Team Picks, we share some of our favorite things we’ve been watching, reading, and playing. In honor of Anime Day on April 15th, we’re sharing our fave Anime characters of all time.

Christopher Armalite

Christopher Armalite, the character from Scrapped Princess, has brown spiked up hair and brown eyes. He has a worried experience on his face. He is wearing a grey jacket with a black and a white stripe down the sides.

My gut reaction to who my favourite Anime Character is goes all the way back to a super obscure anime. Christopher Armalite from Scrapped Princess. Aside from having the best and most unique first name ^_^ he was a complex antagonist turned supporting character, part spy part soldier, his retractable long-axe and strong principles stand out as one of my first "woah he's hardcore" character moments.

NO-FACE

No-Face, the character from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away stands against a grey house with a red roof. There are red and green flowers beside him.

It has to be No-Face from Spirited Away. They're a favourite character of mine since it was my first venture in to Ghibli movies and the concept of the character being a spirit that can eat people but gravitates to Chihiro because of her pureness of heart and intention was adorable and somehow comedic to have a character be such a big bad yet a best friend, especially one who doesn't really speak!

Baron Humbert Von Gikkingen

Baron Humbert Von Gikkingen, the character from The Cat Returns is standing against a wall of rocks. He is wearing a grey suit with a maroon vest underneath and a blue bowtie. He is holding a grey top hat and has a cane in his hand.

Baron Humbert Von Gikkingen from The Cat Returns and Whisper of the Heart is one of my favorite characters. Though neither are my favorite Studio Ghibli film (Howl’s Moving Castle holds a special place in my heart), Baron is by far my favorite character. Not only is he cool, which in the dubbed version he is described as repeatedly, he is kind, clever and supportive, encouraging Haru, the main character, to believe in herself.

kakashi

Kakashi from Naruto is against a rainbow background. He has grey spiked up hair and is wearing a blue mask that covers half of his face. He is wearing a blue headband and a green jacket.

While there are a lot of anime characters I like, one of my absolute fave characters makes an especially strong first impression: Kakashi from Naruto. His calm, laid-back personality, especially in his first scenes as the main trio’s teacher, just shows the massive difference between his masterful skills and their beginner status. On top of that, he’s a gentle and believes in teaching values as well as techniques, which really sets the tone for a lot of the future character development in the series.

Roy Mustang

Roy Mustang, the character from Full Metal Alchemist stands against a black and white background. He is wearing a blue jacket and is holding a lighter in his hand.

My favourite anime character? Honestly, it has to be Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist/Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. He was just such a cool character in an even greater show, plus who DOESN'T love a character who can do what is essentially fire magic?
