FAVE HOLIDAY GIFTS

Here at FAN EXPO HQ, our team is always nerding out over the world of fandom. On Team Picks, we share some of our favorite things we’ve been watching, reading, and playing. This month, we’re sharing our fave holiday gifts we've received.

ESPRESSO MACHINE

A silver Breville espresso machine sits on top of a granite counter top.

Dusti
Marketing Coordinator

One of the best gifts I ever received was last year, when my husband and I were gifted a full-blown espresso machine. The best feature? We can set the temperature of our milk! Cappuccinos in particular have been made/ruined for me ever since I started traveling to Europe. In Europe, they serve coffee at drinking temperature, so you can drink it right away. Coffee tastes so much better when it's served at 130-140 degrees instead of scalding hot, and I have a hard time finding places in the USA that will serve it that way. Having my own espresso machine has made it so much easier to make my cappuccinos and lattes exactly how I want them, not to mention it has cut costs on Starbucks trips... Plus, being able to make espresso martinis whenever I want is a major bonus!

A HOME BUILD COMPUTER

A black computer machine with tie dye machinery inside sits on top of a clear table with a green and orange background.

Karli
Marketing Coordinator

My favourite gift has to be the home build computer my boyfriend got me. He got me all the pieces to build a custom computer and taught me how to build it, so I actually put it together myself!

PINK SHOES

Two sparkly pink children's sized slippers with pink bows on them.

Afshin
Digital Marketing Coordinator

I have so many favorites and not so favorites too! Let's go with the first girly gift I got. My dad bought me a pair of shoes from NYC when I was just 3 months old. They were pink, shimmery, disco-looking shoes and my mom says that I used to keep dancing all day wearing those. I still have them so I can pass them on to my future kids!

SIGNED SCRIPTS

Two white movie documents with multiple signatures on the front of them lay on top of a grey colored background.

Becca
Marketing Coordinator

My most memorable gift is definitely the signed scripts my best friend got me a couple of years ago! I collect horror art, toys, and memorabilia and it was so exciting to open these up at our first friendsmas dinner back after that world wide hiatus. I don't know how she found them or where, but I am so grateful she made such an exciting addition to my collection.

STARBUCKS GIFT CARD

Three holiday themed Starbucks gift cards on top of a burgundy colored background.

Caroline
Marketing Coordinator

As lame as this sounds, I think my favourite holiday gift I've ever received was a $100 Starbucks gift card. I love coffee so being able to get a coffee every day for a few months for free was pretty great. Although, it did not last for quite as long as I thought it would...

PEZ DISPENSER

Two Disney's Frozen Pez candy dispensers in a box. One dispenser is Anna themed and the other is Elsa.

Maya
Marketing Coordinator

One of the most memorable gifts I've received was during a white Elephant gift exchange that I was a part of in high school. The gifts that were available ranged from the most low-effort (but in a funny way) to high-effort, so it really was a toss-up if you'd get a good gift or not. I ended up getting an Anna (yes, the character from Frozen) PEZ dispenser, which I still have now! Have I ever used it? Heck no, I don't like PEZ candy. But it's a neat memento with a funny(ish) backstory.
