WHAT IS THE SPIDER-VERSE?
You could say it's hardcore Parquagh -- Peter Parker that is. The Spider-Verse was concocted in 2014 as a comic storyline, but as a multi-verse does, it expanded across space and time to include the many variants we love and know.
The Spider-Verse is a collection of every Spider-powered entity across all timelines, from Earth-Prime to the end of time. This includes fan favorites such as the original Peter Parker Spidey, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacey as Spider-Gwen, and even Spider-Ham.
GET TO KNOW SOME FAMILIAR FACES
If you've seen the first movie, you probably already know the characters here. If not, this will all be new. Either way, it's gonna be fun.
Miles Morales
Miles is the star of the Spider-Verse franchise. He follows the typical Spider-Man origin story of getting bit by a spider and gaining superpowers. However, in this version, there's already an existing and famous Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and we eventually meet a ton of new Spider-People as the multi-verse wormhole opens up. Even with all these new additions, Miles's story remains the one we follow and he's the guy we'e rooting for.
Peter B. Parker
What happens if the Peter Parker you know and love loses Mary Jane (in a bitter divorce way, not death), puts on a few pounds, and loses mostly any motivation he's ever had? You get Peter B. Parker. He's an unwilling, but helpful, mentor to Miles when he's transported into Miles's universe by mistake. Peter B. Parker knows just how much you can get out of being Spider-Man... and just how much you can lose.

Gwen is not only Miles's crush/love interest, she's yet another Spider-Person who was brought into Miles's world against her will. She goes undercover at Miles's school to try and figure out what's going on, and eventually teams up with Miles, Peter B. Parker, and many others to help take down the big bad, King Pin.

Peni Parker is a Spider-Person from the year 3145. She keeps New York safe under the superhero name 'SP//dr' and tag teams her missions with a robot designed by her father that's controlled by her best friend: a spider.

The year is 1933. Private eye Peter Parker gets bit by a radioactive spider and gains all the powers of Spider-Man. He goes by the name "Spider-Noir" and helps our other Spider-Friends in this movie take down King Pin after he, like many others, gets pulled into present day New York.

Think you like Peter Parker? You should meet his friend, Peter Porker. That's right - there's a universe where Peter got bitten by a radioactive... pig... and became Spider-Ham. Rest assured, he has a real job too. He's a photographer at the Daily... Beagle. Yep.
WHICH SPIDERS ARE COMING NEXT?
The movie has only been out for about two weeks, so we don't want to spoil anything if you haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Just enjoy these images of some of the upcoming Spider-People appearing in the sequel. And get ready for Miguel 👀

THE FUTURE
We already know that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will end with a big cliffhanger, setting up for 2024's Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. We've also been told that the sequel will be a "launching pad" for a spin-off movie focusing on characters Gwen Stacy, Cindy Moon, and Jessica Drew. With so much in-universe potential, I'm sure we will see more than just those two movies in the future.
