Created by Shigeru Miyamoto, the franchise got it's start in the 1980's as a spin-off of Donkey Kong, Nintendo's response to Pac-Man. The Mario Bros. games started as an arcade game, making their way to the Atari 2600, NES, Game Boy Advanced, and other platforms as the franchise grew.
