The FHQ

PERCY JACKSON

THE NEW SERIES

Staying true to the source, the first season will be based on the first book. The official plot synopsis reads:

12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, is coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt; with his friend's help, Percy must restore order to Olympus.

With a mixed cast of established names (mainly playing Gods) and new talent, this show is setting up to be a very faithful retelling of the books.

HOW WILL THE SERIES BE DIFFERENT?

POSEIDON'S FURY

Percy Jackson looks concerned in the forest

Percy's actor, Walker Scobell, teased that his version of Percy will be a lot more hot-headed, and not as calm as Logan Lerman's version had been throughout the movies.

FAITHFUL ADAPTATION

A group of campers stand in the forest

With some heavy criticism coming from fans of the books, the author, Rick Riordan, confirmed that this series was his new opportunity to try and create a faithful adaptation to screen. Whether that actually happens is yet to be seen, but Riordan seems to be happy with the choices made so far.

MORE TIME

Percy Jackson looks up at a statue in a museum

The show is committing to one book per season, just as the movies did one book per film. The difference here is obviously timing. With 8 full episodes to cover the event of one book, rather than a 1.5 hour movie, we're going to get a lot more detail, character development, and time with these characters, locations, and plots.
