HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

Son of King Viserys Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower, he is the crowned King of Westeros. He was originally further down the line for succession and was only crowned after the Green Council usurped Rhaenyra's ascension to the throne by claiming Viserys changed the heir while on his deathbed. He is married to his sister, Helaena and is known to be a drunken man who never wanted to be crowned King. Will he become a valiant King or will the power craze him?

Alicent is the second wife of the late Viserys Targaryen and the mother of King Aegon II, Aemond, and Helaena. She is mostly mild mannered but feisty with her emotions and tends to be a bit of a pawn in everyone else's game. Even her lover, Ser Criston Cole, seems to make moves without her knowing. Will she find her voice and make a stand, or keep being shut out by those around her?

Lord Commander of the King's Guard and now Hand of the King to Aegon II, Ser Criston Cole has worked his way to the top spots in King's Landing. He was part of Rhaenyra's personal guard, and her lover for a moment, before finding his way to the Green Council's side and becoming Alicent's lover, and eventually replacing Alicent's father as Hand of the King. He is brave, loyal, and proud, but will that help or hinder Team Green?

Second son of Viserys and Alicent, he is the younger brother of King Aegon II. He takes after his uncle Daemon as he is hot-headed, sly, and underhanded. He is a skilled fighter, even though he lost his left eye as a child during a fight. He's a spitfire, a force to be reckoned with, and his reckless chasing after Lucerys (causing his death) on dragon back may have led to an all-out war between his family. Will he redeem himself for his actions, or descend further into his darkness?

He is the Hand of the King, and best friend, to King Viserys Targaryen. He spent most of his days helping Viserys while plotting to get his family on the throne, going so far as to marry off Alicent to Viserys when his wife dies in childbirth, even though Alicent is the same age and best friend to Viserys's daughter. This eventually breaks apart Alicent and Rhaenyra's friendship, asserting his family's dominance in King's Landing and ultimately making him regret putting Aegon on the throne. What will happen to Otto? Will he still stand by his grandson if he tears apart the Kingdom?

Lord Confessor in the Red Keep, Larys is a frighteningly cunning man with a penchant for cloak and dagger activity. He is Queen Alicent's confidant and devil on her shoulder, constantly offering to do misdeeds for her. He slithers his way through the darkness and deceit in King's Landing, using these ways to garner power and influence with those who can get him further up the totem pole. Will he truly be an ally, or will he choose whichever side wins?

First-born and only surviving child of King Viserys Targayen and Aemma Arryn, Rhaenyra was named and expected to be the heir to the Throne. Raised to eventually take her father's place, she learned from her father during his rule and was prepared to be the Queen. This was all set and certain until her past best friend Alicent married her father and had multiple sons with the King, providing a modicum of doubt as to who would ascend the throne. If Alicent had not mistakenly taken Viserys's deathbed words to mean Aegon was to be King, we may not have much of a story to watch here, but it sure did spark a war. Will Rhaenyra rise to the Iron Throne?

Brother of King Viserys, and would have been second in line to the throne, Daemon is a Targaryen Prince and now Royal Consort to Queen Rhaenyra. He is a skilled warrior, dragon rider, absolute wildcard, and has an impressive courtship history of powerful women, having been associated with Mysaria, Princess Laena Valeryon, and now Rhaenyra. Will his feisty arrogance and aggression serve Team Black well, or will his actions end up being their downfall?

The Queen Who Never Was, cousin of King Viserys, wife of Lord Corlys Velaryon, and dragon rider. Rhaenys was raised in royalty yet overlooked for the crown during political unrest. Though she did not ascend to be Queen, she is a Princess of the Targaryen household, Lady of Dragonstone, and all around a brilliant and fearless force to be reckoned with. She is wise, understanding, and does not deal with any nonsense. Will her wisdom be the best asset Team Black has, or will the Queen Who Never Was carry resentment for Rhaenyra's claim to the throne?

Lord of the Tides, the Sea Snake, Master of Driftmark, head of House Velaryon, and husband to Princess Rhaenys — he is a man of many titles and a master of the sea. His late daughter Laena was married to Daemon, and his "late" son Laenor married Rhaenyra. He is a family man who had hopes for the throne but has managed to put those goals aside to assist Rhaenrya through his wife's wishes. He is a skilled fighter and noble man, but will his wish for retirement leave the Black Council without his strength and cunning?

Jace, son of Rhaenyra and Laenor, but biologically the son of Harwin Strong.As the firstborn son of Queen Rhaenyra, Jace would be the next in line for the throne, should his mother get it back. Though he's only 16, he is the dragon rider of Vermax and is kindhearted compared to many of those around him. Will he help his family ascend to the throne, or will his good nature lead to his end?

Lady of Dragonstone, Mysaria has built her status from her network of spies and informants throughout King's Landing. She was Daemon's lover and has now aided Rhaenyra by warning her of Ser Arryk's return and attempt on her life. Her cunning and knowledge have served her well, but will her connections and information serve the Black Council well enough to claim victory, or will she betray them if a higher price is offered?

Right from the first look, I knew Daemon was the character I would gravitate towards. His fierce determination and willingness to take bold risks make him a captivating figure in the tumultuous world of Westeros. Daemon's aggression isn't just about brute force; it's a reflection of his strategic cunning and unyielding drive to achieve his goals, even in the face of gruesome battles. Despite the tough exterior he tends to showcase he also has a charming personality that makes it hard to hate him.

What ISN'T there to love about Rhaenys? She is strong, smart, a dragon rider, and graceful amidst the tragic circumstances that continuously befall her. She's an amazing, reasonable guide and aunt to Rhaenyra, as well as an amazing mother and grandmother to her kids. Fierce, valiant, level-headed, and strong willed, she is by far my favorite character.

Queen Rhaenyra has to be my favorite character from the show. I really love how driven she is to seek her own destiny, even in spite of the circumstances she finds herself in. She's fiercely independent and she knows what she wants (to be Queen, rightfully so). I also liked the relationship and dynamic that she has with Alicent, going from beloved friends to enemies on opposite sides of a civil war. I can't wait to see how things turn out for her.
