FAVE VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS

Here at FAN EXPO HQ, our team is always nerding out over the world of fandom. On Team Picks, we share some of our favorite things we’ve been watching, reading, and playing. This month, we’re going to be looking at the team’s favorite videogame characters.

Sometimes, what makes a videogame great isn’t just the gameplay, graphics, or story. Sometimes, it’s a particular character (for better or for worse) that stands out and makes it all the better and more enjoyable.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

My fave game character? After 10 years of SWTOR, it would have to be Khem Val; Dashade servant & warrior for Sith Lord Tulak Hord. He's proven over time, that his loyalty to his Sith Lord was like no other. Loyalty among the Sith is hard to find, which is why Khem is the true MVP of my gaming life.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

By far, my fave is the Gatekeeper from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Most of this has to do with the meme surrounding him that has developed in the community. Beyond that, he’s also wholesome given his only role is to give candid reports to the player character. In a story filled with morally grey characters, that alone was enough to make him stand out to many who played this game.

KINGLER

Pokémon

I choose Kingler! It starts out as a small dumb crab who I must protect with my entire life, and grows into a bigger, angrier crab who I still feel compelled to lay down my life for. I love its little weird mouth bubbles, I love how obstinate but also affectionate it was in the original Pokémon anime, and it reminds me of my cats. Kingler has been a part of my Pokémon A-team since the very beginning, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

EZIO

The Assassin's Creed Series

I love this game because it takes place in Florence, Italy, which is one of the most beautiful places I've ever traveled to. The game's rendition of Florence is mapped out so well that when I visit Florence, I can see myself in the game jumping on rooftops; not to mention you get to meet Leonardo da Vinci! Ezio Auditore da Firenze is my favorite character because he has a very dry and somewhat inappropriate sense of humor, and I really enjoy his story arch in his quest for vengeance.
