The Man in Many Fandoms

Disney fans know him as Eugene Fitzherbert/Flynn Ryder. DC fans know him as Shazam. Chuck fans know him as... well, Chuck. Zachary Levi has played characters in many beloved fandoms over the years (even getting to play characters in both Marvel and DC). He has established his footing in the nerdom. So, let's take a moment to look back at some of his recognizable characters and appreciate his work in all the fandoms he is a part of.

Harold and the Purple Crayon

From the 1955 children's book to the 2001 HBO tv series, multiple generations grew up or are familiar of the adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon. The next evolution of the story is making it to the big screen. Zachary Levi is playing the grown-up version of Harold as his adventures continue. This movie will be a sequel to the books when the older Harold draws himself off the book and enters into the real world.

Shazam!

Based on the DC character by the same name, 2019's Shazam! is about a young teen, Billy, who is chosen by the ancient wizard and giving him the ability to transform into Shazam with various superpowers.

In an article from the Thrillist (Zachary Levi Is Really, Really Excited He Gets to Be 'Shazam!), Zachary Levi had this to say about playing the kid turned superhero: "I am the kid that read the comics and played the video games and still does, and always dreamt about being a superhero when I was a kid, like we all do, and always dreamt about playing a superhero as a working actor so the whole damn thing is all wish fulfillment. I got to take all of my genuine joy and just general stokedness and not have to temper it at all. I just got to show up to set in my super suit and be like let's do it."
