From Book to Film, Matthew Lewis

From movies to video games to a theme park ride, Matthew Lewis is most known for his portrayal of Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series. Many have watched him grow as an actor over the years and even after the Harry Potter movies, Matthew Lewis has not only continued to play Neville in other mediums, but has moved on to acting in some very interesting other projects.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

As one of the first rides to debut in Universal Orlando's The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Islands of Adventure on June 18, 2010, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey takes guests in and around locations from the Harry Potter series. Guests fly around Hogwarts castle, the Whomping Willow, a Quidditch match, the Chamber of Secrets and through a horde of Dementors. The ride uses KUKA robocoaster technology, allowing the seats to pivot while being held above the track by a robotic arm - making it really feel like you're flying along with the characters.

Neville Longbottom, played by Matthew Lewis, is one of the many characters featured in the ride played by their original actor from the movie franchise. Other characters featured are:

Me Before You (2016)

Baby Done (2020)

Baby Done is a New Zealand comedy film directed by Curtis Vowell, executive produced by Taika Waititi, and written by Sophie Henderson. This film follows Zoe and Tim (Matthew Lewis) and their opposite reactions to the news that Zoe is pregnant. Zoe tries to live a wild single life before the baby arrives while Tim goes full blown into nesting mode.

Some Kind of Life (1995)

Matthew Lewis' first on screen role was Johnathan Taylor, a young boy whose mother tries to care for both him and her husband, who became brain-damaged after a motorbike accident.

The Syndicate (2012)

The Syndicate is about five members of a betting syndicate who win the lottery and each series follows a different syndicate. The first series is set in a Leeds supermarket with Matthew Lewis playing Jamie Bradley, who works with his brother at a local convenience store.

Bluestone 42 (2014–2015)

This black comedy/action series is about the camaraderie between soldiers and the deadly situations the soldiers are required to defuse. A butcher's son from Armley, Corporal Gordon "Towerblock" House (Matthew Lewis) is Captain Nick Medhurst second in command during the show.

All Creatures Great and Small (2020)

This TV series is based on books about a Yorkshire veterinarian and revolves around Siegfried Farnon, James Herriot and Siegfried's younger brother, Tristan. Hugh Hulton (Matthew Lewis) is a wealthy landowner and James' rival who competes for the affection of James' wife, Helen.
