Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of The Office and Rainn Wilson’s Birthday (January 20th), it's time to take a moment to look at the career of the Assistant (to the) Regional Manager of the paper distribution company, Dunder Mifflin.

The Office

Rainn Wilson has made fans laugh since 2005 with his role as Dwight Schrute, a salesman and Assistant (to the) Regional Manager of the paper distribution company, Dunder Mifflin. Through his comedic timing, quotable one liners, and his reactions to the pranks that are pulled on his character, Wilson cemented himself as a fan favorite amongst The Office fandom.

Dwight was really close to getting a spin-off of his own, revolving around him and his family on the beet farm. Unfortunately, it was never picked up by NBC so we will never know what next adventure awaited Dwight after The Office ended.

The Smurfs

In Smurfs: The Lost Village, Rainn Wilson lends his unique comedic energy to the character of Gargamel, the quirky wizard and the sworn enemy of the Smurfs. Wilson captures vocally Gargamel’s over-the-top theatrics, turning him into a memorable, laugh-out-loud antagonist.

Wilson expressed in a Collider article, Rainn Wilson on Voicing Gargamel in 'Smurfs: The Lost Village' and Moving Away from Dwight, what he loved about the Smurfs movies and playing the villain “It’s really light-hearted and it doesn’t have any dark edge to it, which is nice ‘cause most of what I do has an edge to it. And I love playing maniacal villains. It’s super fun! They’re the most fun roles to play.”
