THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2

A SEQUEL? GROUNDBREAKING.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been two decades since The Devil Wears Prada first graced the silver screen, captivating audiences with its sharp wit, unforgettable performances, and iconic fashion (plus, one bargain bin cerulean sweater). The 2006 film, based on Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel, became a cultural phenomenon, offering a glamorous yet biting glimpse into the high-stakes world of fashion publishing. Now, twenty years later, fans are buzzing with excitement as news of The Devil Wears Prada 2 has surfaced, promising to revisit the iconic characters and explore how their lives have evolved. With the original film leaving an indelible mark on pop culture, the anticipation for this sequel is nothing short of electric, as audiences eagerly await to see what’s next for Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, and the world of Runway.

MEET FASHION'S FINEST

The Devil Wears Prada 2 set to release on May 1, 2026, brings back the iconic characters from the original film. Directed by David Frankel, the plot centers on Miranda's struggle to keep Runway magazine afloat amidst the challenges of a declining print media industry. She faces fierce competition from her former assistant, Emily Charlton, who has risen to prominence as the head of a luxury fashion brand and controls the advertising revenue Miranda desperately needs. Andy, now the features editor at Runway, finds herself caught in the middle of this high-stakes battle while navigating her own career and personal challenges. Let's recap all the major players in the fashion industry.

Miranda Priestly

Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, is the powerful and intimidating editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. She’s known for her sharp personality, high standards, and unmatched influence in the fashion world. While she seems cold and ruthless, the original movie hints at the sacrifices she’s made to stay at the top. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Miranda faces new challenges as the fashion industry shifts toward digital media, putting Runway at risk. She must fight to keep the magazine relevant while dealing with competition from her former assistant, Emily Charlton, who is now a major force in fashion. The sequel will explore how Miranda handles these changes and what’s next for her as she approaches the end of her career. Fans are excited to see how her character evolves in this new chapter.

Andrea "Andy" Sachs

Andrea "Andy" Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada, is a young journalist who becomes Miranda Priestly’s assistant at Runway magazine. At first, Andy struggles to fit into the fashion world, but she eventually proves herself by handling Miranda’s tough demands. However, she realizes the job is jeopardizing her personal relationships and values, so she decides to leave Runway to follow her dream of becoming a journalist. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Andy is back at Runway as the features editor, working alongside Miranda again. She’s caught in the middle of a rivalry between between Miranda and her former coworker, Emily. The sequel shows how Andy has grown over the years, finding balance while still looking fabulous.

Nigel Kipling

Nigel Kipling, played by Stanley Tucci in The Devil Wears Prada, is Miranda Priestly’s loyal and talented right-hand man at Runway magazine. As the creative director, he’s a mentor to Andy Sachs, offering guidance and tough love as she navigates the cutthroat world of fashion. Nigel is witty, supportive, and deeply passionate about his work, though he faces disappointment when Miranda sacrifices his career opportunity to protect her own interests. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Nigel continues to play a key role at Runway, helping Miranda adapt to the challenges of the digital age. The sequel explores his evolving relationship with Andy and his own ambitions as he considers what’s next for his career.

Emily Charlton

Emily Charlton, played by Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada, is Miranda Priestly’s first assistant at Runway magazine. Ambitious and fiercely dedicated to her job, Emily is obsessed with fashion and dreams of accompanying Miranda to Paris Fashion Week. She often clashes with Andy Sachs, whom she sees as unfit for the role, but her sharp humor and determination make her a standout character. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Emily has risen to become a major player in the fashion industry, possibly running her own brand or publication. The sequel explores her rivalry with Miranda and Andy as she competes for influence in the evolving fashion industry and taking the crown from her predecessors.

Irv Ravitz

Irv Ravitz, played by Tibor Feldman in The Devil Wears Prada, is a key executive at Elias-Clarke, the parent company of Runway magazine. He oversees Miranda Priestly and often questions her decisions, particularly when her leadership style becomes controversial. Irv represents the corporate pressures Miranda faces in maintaining her position. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Irv’s role expands as he pushes for modernization at Runway, challenging Miranda’s traditional approach. The sequel explores his power struggles with Miranda and how his decisions impact Andy, Nigel, and Emily as they navigate the evolving industry and rise of social media.

Lilly

Lilly, played by Tracie Thoms in The Devil Wears Prada, is Andy Sachs’ best friend and a grounded voice outside the high-pressure world of fashion. As an artist, Lilly often challenges Andy’s choices, especially when her job at Runway begins to strain their friendship and Andy’s values. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Lilly’s role grows as she reconnects with Andy, offering support and perspective as Andy balances her career and personal life. The sequel explores how their friendship evolves and how Lilly’s creative pursuits intersect with Andy’s journey in the fashion world.

NOTABLE BRANDS

Although approximately 93 outfits were showcased in the first film alone, certain brands captivated us from Runway. Here are some of our fave looks from The Devil Wears Prada, as well as a few standout pieces spotted on the set of the upcoming sequel that caught our eye.

Prada

How can we talk about The Devil Wears Prada without talking about Prada? They are so many looks by the brand it's hard to choose, but Andy's green coat was heavily featured in the marketing of the first movie and it is always on our mind.

Valentino

You see the pumps before you meet the dragon lady herself. Miranda struts on screen in her fire red Valentino heels, and we know she means business.

Chanel

Andy is finally coming out of her cerulean polyester-knit shell and emerging as a fashionista butterfly. Her Chanel looks show her style growth, while still leaning into her academic core.

Dior

Emily Blunt stuns on the streets of NYC during the filming of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in this killer corporate Dior ensemble. We can't wait to see more Dior on the big screen this May.

Fendi

Furry, fabulous, Fendi. Need we say more? Okay, we will. Mirada sports a lot of Fendi bags through the first film (and hopefully the upcoming one) but this Fendi coat is just stunning.

Calvin Klein

This metallic snake skin Calvin Klein purse was spotted on Anne Hathaway's arm on set of The Devil Wears Prada 2 paired with a Ford jumpsuit, and it's already a fan fave. We'll say what everyone is thinking... Please give us the bag.

Iconic Quotes

Here are some of the most memorable lines from The Devil Wears Prada that we can't stop quoting.

“By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.” - Miranda Priestly

Miranda always has quick jabs, but this one directed at Andy in her first few weeks at the office is just hilarious.

“Is there a reason that my coffee isn’t here? Has she died or something?” - Miranda Priestly

Miranda is obviously out of touch, but hey, we also need our morning coffee. We feel you, Miranda.

“Details of your incompetence do not interest me.” - Miranda Priestly

Emily tries her best, but her best isn't enough for the editor-in-chief of Runway. Even if you have a head cold...

“That’s all” - Miranda Priestly

This is the line Miranda uses to dismiss her staff. It seems simple, but it's cutting. When she says "that's all" she really means "get out until you are worth my time."

“All right everyone! Gird your loins.” - Nigel Kipling

This is the first warning Andy get's when Nigel informs the entire office Miranda is about to arrive. As colleagues scramble and throw on their heels, Nigel braces Andy for the introduction.

“Everybody wants to be us.” - Miranda Priestly

This is a turning point for Andy, and when we see Miranda will never truly change. Despite her power, she doesn't realize the sacrifices she has made to get where she is and Andy decides not to follow in her Prada clad footsteps.
