Keep Your Dreams Alive

Zootopia 2 is releasing in theaters this month, so let’s look back at the career of the newest addition to the Zootopia family, Ke Huy Quan.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Nearly 40 years ago was Quan’s debut film, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, in which he played Short Round at only 12 years old. When he was in school, there was an advertisement for auditions that was posted for kids who wanted to be in a movie. Quan’s teacher encouraged him to audition and after an interview with Producer Kathleen Kennedy, he met with Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford and got the role of Indiana Jones’ sidekick.

The Goonies

In the 1985 American adventure comedy film The Goonies, Quan played Data, the gadget-loving member of the group and Mikey's neighbor. Serving as both comic relief and the team's crucial problem-solver, Quan delivers an energetic performance filled with heart and humor. Data's childlike wonder and determination become memorable as he uses his creative contraptions to overcome the film's various obstacles and dangers.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

After a 20-year hiatus, Quan returned to the screen in the critically acclaimed Everything Everywhere All at Once. He plays Waymond Wang and his multiverse variants, Evelyn's meek yet lighthearted husband whose altruistic outlook contrasts with Joy's nihilism. Quan masterfully portrays characters ranging from a humble laundromat owner to a confident movie star and martial arts expert, earning widespread critical acclaim and major awards recognition for his triumphant comeback.

Zootopia 2

Joining the cast in Zootopia 2, Quan voiced Gary De'Snake, the first reptile in the city of Zootopia Metropolis. The catalyst of the movie, Gary appears for an unknown reason and causes panic in the city, setting up the central mystery for Nick and Judy to investigate.
