Daredevil: Born Again

DAREDEVIL EMERGES

Fans have been eagerly awaiting Daredevil’s return since his brief appearances in She-Hulk and Echo. Debuting on March 4th, Matt Murdock makes his comeback on Disney+ as he continues his battle with Wilson Fisk. Join us as we take a deep dive into everything related to the character and all the threats he has faced across the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

ICONS OF HELL'S KITCHEN

Here's the key standout characters in the highly anticipated new series.

DAREDEVIL

Daredevil, or Matt Murdock, portrayed by Charli Cox, is a blind lawyer and vigilante with heightened senses that make him an exceptional fighter and detective. After a childhood accident, his other senses became amplified, allowing him to navigate the world in unique ways. By day, he fights for justice in the courtroom; by night, he defends Hell’s Kitchen from criminals who defy the law. Daredevil: Born Again will explore Matt’s internal struggles as he balances his two identities and confronts the darkness within. Driven by a deep sense of justice and redemption, "The Man Without Fear" has become one of the MCU's most seasoned heroes following Iron Man's departure.

KINGPIN

Kingpin, portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio, is one of the most menacing and multifaceted villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the ruthless crime lord of Hell’s Kitchen, Wilson Fisk uses his immense power, intellect, and brutal force to control both the city's underworld and its political landscape. D'Onofrio brings a chilling depth to the character, portraying Fisk as both a volatile force of nature and a man with deep emotional vulnerabilities. His complex relationship with Daredevil and his personal quest for power make him a formidable adversary, blending cold-bloodedness with moments of surprising humanity. D'Onofrio’s performance in Daredevil and his upcoming return in Daredevil: Born Again solidifies Kingpin as one of the MCU’s most captivating and terrifying villains.

PUNISHER

Jon Bernthal reprises his iconic role as Frank Castle, aka 'The Punisher', in Daredevil: Born Again. A vigilante driven by a relentless desire to take down the criminal underworld by any means necessary, Frank Castle’s lethal methods make him one of the most dangerous characters in the MCU. Bernthal’s intense portrayal brings raw emotion and brutality to the role, cementing his place as a fan-favorite. To prepare for the part, Bernthal trained at a gun range, where he had an incredible encounter with Thomas Jane, who previously played The Punisher in the 2004 film. This behind-the-scenes connection only adds to the excitement as we watch Frank Castle return with a vengeance, ready to unleash his fury once more.

HEATHER GLENN

Margarita Levieva portrays Heather Glenn, Matt Murdock’s current love interest. As someone with differing views on vigilantism, Heather challenges Matt’s dangerous, dual life as both a lawyer and a vigilante. Their relationship is marked by thought-provoking conversations, where their contrasting beliefs create tension and highlight the moral complexities of Matt's actions. Levieva brings an intriguing dynamic to the role, as someone who deeply cares for Matt while grappling with the darker side of his crusade for justice. Their interactions promise to be both emotionally charged and intellectually engaging.

FRANKLIN NELSON

Elden Henson portrays Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, Matt Murdock's loyal best friend and law partner in Daredevil: Born Again. As the co-founder of the Nelson, Murdock & Page law firm, Foggy brings a balance of humor, compassion, and practicality to Matt’s often intense and dark world. He is fiercely protective of Matt, unaware of his friend’s vigilante identity, and provides a grounding influence throughout their complicated legal and personal battles. Foggy’s unwavering support for Matt, even when faced with difficult truths, showcases the deep bond between them. Henson’s portrayal of Foggy adds heart and warmth to the series, making him an essential and beloved character in the Daredevil universe.

KAREN PAGE

Deborah Ann Woll plays Karen Page, a former reporter and love interest of Matt Murdock from the initial hit Netflix Series. As a key partner at the Nelson, Murdock & Page law firm, Karen’s investigative skills and determination make her a valuable asset to Matt and Foggy Nelson. Despite her past, Karen shows immense courage and resilience, often standing up for what’s right even when faced with danger. Her bond with Matt will be tested throughout the new series, as they navigate both their professional and personal history. Woll’s portrayal of Karen brings depth and complexity to the character, making her an integral part of the emotional and narrative core of the show.

HELL'S KITCHEN

Hell’s Kitchen, the gritty and iconic New York City neighborhood, serves as a backdrop for many of the Marvel characters, particularly Daredevil and 'The Defenders'. Known for its history of working-class roots and a reputation for crime, the area has evolved over time but still retains its tough, no-nonsense vibe. In the world of Daredevil, Hell’s Kitchen is not just a setting, but almost a character in itself, reflecting the challenges, struggles, and resilience of those who live there. The dark alleys and towering buildings create an atmosphere of constant tension, where heroes and villains alike navigate the complexities of justice, morality, and survival.

OUR FAVE CHARACTERS

Who are the staff cheering for? Check out our fave characters.

DAREDEVIL

I've been a fan of Daredevil ever since Ben Affleck took a swing at the role in 2003. I was already familiar with big-name superheroes like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men, but that movie really put Daredevil on my radar. Fast forward to 2015, when Netflix gave us what’s arguably the best live-action adaptation of the character to date. The hallway sequence still lives rent-free in my head. I still look to this series to deliver an industry best standard when it comes to fight choreography. Charlie Cox, in all his MCU appearances, has brought a unique edge to every scene he's in. The man was born for this role and I can't wait to see where they take Daredevil next.

KINGPIN

After three Netflix seasons and cameos in Hawkeye and Echo, I’m really excited to see Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin of Crime make his mark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and renew his battles against Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Vincent D’Onofrio has been perfect as the character but I’ve always felt that there have been restraints to date that I’m hoping are coming off now that he’s in the proper MCU. The promise of the title “Born Again” harkens back to Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli’s classic tale where the Kingpin triumphs, so we'll see how that pays off as well. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Marvel’s New York with the triumphant rise of one of greatest villains from the comics.

PUNISHER

I've watched every live-action Punisher portrayal, from Dolph Lundgren to Thomas Jane to Ray Winstone. I've also checked out a fair share of the animated versions and even played the video game. The character is tough to get right, and most actors have missed the mark in one way or another. Frank Castle needs to be a little unhinged—after all, he's an unrepentant murderer—but there's also a need for some sympathy for him. From the moment Jon Bernthal was cast, it was clear he'd be perfect for the role, and he proved it with his appearances on Daredevil and his own show. With the quiet end of the Netflix Marvel series, it seemed like we'd seen the last of his outstanding portrayal. But now, with Daredevil: Born Again, we get a new opportunity to see him take on this defining role once more.

DAREDEVIL LAST APPEARED ON 'SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW'

You might think the last time we saw the 'Man Without Fear' was in Echo, but that series actually takes place just before Matt Murdock’s most recent appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, chronologically. After an intense battle with She-Hulk, Matt and Jennifer Walters shared a more personal connection, with undeniable chemistry that led to an unforgettable night together. The next morning, Matt's "walk of shame" became one of the most talked-about scenes, as he awkwardly exited Jennifer's apartment in full Daredevil gear. That moment stood out to fans, as it brought his iconic Daredevil persona into the MCU's lighter, more comedic tone. It not only brought humor to the character but also showcased his ability to balance his superhero side with his human side. It was the perfect blend of his usual stoic intensity and the playful charm that fans have come to love.
