Storm Trooper to Resistance Fighter
It’s been 10 years since Star Wars: The Force Awakens appeared on the big screen. To celebrate, we're going to look at the career of the man behind Finn: John Boyega.

STAR WARS
In the Star Wars sequel saga, Finn is one of the most compelling characters, thanks largely to John Boyega's portrayal. As FN-2187, a former First Order stormtrooper who breaks free from his conditioning, Boyega depicted Finn's journey from reluctant deserter to passionate Resistance fighter. Boyega's natural charisma, emotional range, and chemistry with co-stars Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac helped anchor the new trilogy's central relationships. While the trilogy failed to fully explore Finn's potential character arc, particularly the unique perspective and moral complexities of being a child soldier in the First Order, Boyega's performance still captured the character's internal struggle with remarkable nuance. He successfully portrayed the fear and confusion of someone discovering their moral compass, the guilt of past actions, and the growing courage to stand for what's right.
