Can you tell us about your first cosplay?  

My first cosplay was done back in 2009 and it was made by one of my best friends and her mother. It was Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service!  

Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?  

My most treasured cosplay piece is my Imani from Paladins! I love that cosplay so much and learned so much to make it. It's also important to me because my cosplay team, the Usualrangers helped me make it!  

What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?   

My overall goal in cosplay is to bring awareness to the underrepresented! I cosplay predominantly black cosplayers because as a child I didn't get a chance to see that many characters that looked like me, so I want to find a way to be that for other little black girls. I also want to build a platform that allows other minorities a chance to shine for their people too!   

If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?  

Make what you can and buy what you can't! There is no reason to lose sleep over a difficult costume piece or spend more money in a store. Do what works for your skillset and work at your own pace!  

Are there any local cosplayers that you look up to or inspire you?  

I love working with many cosplayers such as The Usualrangers, Darth_mars.jpg, Chibi Ebony cosplay, Taliverse, cosplaychoco, cocoa suga cosplay, and Thou art anuli! There are many more, but I'd be writing all day!  

In honor of Mother’s Day, who would you consider your “cosplay mom”?  

Cc the geek! Definitely! Hands down. I love that woman and every time we work together it's so much fun!
