Team Picks: Our Precious

Here at the FAN EXPO HQ, our team is always nerding out over the world of fandom. On Team Picks, we share some of our favorite things we’ve been watching, reading and playing. This month, to celebrate The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy turning 20, we’re examining the deep, hard truths: what thing or things would we protect as “our Precious”?

We all have at least one thing that we get just a little too possessive over. We’re not saying any of us would go full Gollum if you took away our Netflix subscription. But also, we’re not NOT saying we would go full Gollum if you took away our Netflix subscription. There are just certain things that we’re not willing to part with, and that’s okay. Our precious, go away hobbitses!

Here’s our list of things that we’ll admit to clinging to a little too tightly.

My Cats

Ashley
Customer Service Coordinator

I would probably have to say my cats. I am absolutely obsessed with them and my husband tells me to tone down the crazy cat lady factor on a regular basis. But I just love them so much, and they are so precious. Look at them!

Noise-Canceling Headphones

Caroline
Social Media Coordinator

I would have to say my noise-canceling headphones are my "precious" right now because I would literally not be able to work from home. Without them, I would die ... okay just kidding, but my productivity would be at an all-time low. How would I get into the zone without jamming out to my 2000s throwback playlist every morning?

Bubble Tea

Jay
Senior Operations Manager

I don’t know how else to say this: it’s my ... addiction? I’m very passionate about delicious bubble tea.

Pho

Quinn
Social Media Coordinator

Okay listen: I do have some flexibility here. I can be assuaged with some ramen or some other delicious noodle soup along these lines. I’m good with different variations too: today some Pho Gà, tomorrow some Pho Bò Saté, the next day maybe a little detour over to some Bún Bò Huế. But believe me, when I tell you this, I could eat some form of noodle soup, and especially Pho, every day if left to my own devices. On a cold, wet day, there is literally nothing better than a steaming bowl of noodles in a salty broth. If someone told me that for some reason, I could never have it again, I would be ashamed and terrified of the things that would come out of my mouth. Don’t come between me and Pho—I am telling you this for your sake and mine.
