GEEKY ASTROLOGY

JANUARY EDITION

New year, new you! As you’re sitting inside getting cozied up and escaping the cold, why not explore some new shows to keep you entertained? We know anime as a genre can be a little daunting and it’s hard to know where to start, but it’s highly bingeable so it’s a perfect fit for this time of year. Plus, you have us, your trusty guides, to lead you to the perfect anime to start watching (or re-watch), tailored to each zodiac sign. Believe it!

JANUARY READINGS

PISCES

Main character from Ascendance of a Bookworm

Ascendance of a Bookworm
Pisces love to dream and be creative, so this is the perfect anime for them! Ascendance of a Bookworm is a show about a librarian getting reincarnated into another world, and them using their creative skills to better their life there (e.g., making arts and crafts, making books, etc.). The show also has a good main character that you can’t help but sympathize/empathize with.

ARIES

Main character from My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia
If Aries are easily bored, then this show is the right one for them! It’s got good pacing, great fights, and there’s always something to look forward to! Plus, the protagonist of the series, Izuku Midoriya, tends to act before they think (like how you, Aries, are known for being spontaneous/courageous).

TAURUS

Main characters from Restaurant to Another World

Restaurant to Another World
Hey Taurus! If you're looking for an anime to check out, then look no further than Restaurant to Another World. As the title so perfectly explains, it's a show about a restaurant connected to a fantasy world via a magical door, about once every seven days. This is the ideal show for you; it has a super chill vibe, which is perfect for when you want to cozy up or cuddle at home. Of course, the food there looks great (as is usual for any anime), so it'll probably get you hungry while you watch! Season 2 just came out, so there's tons of episodes for you to binge watch.

GEMINI

Main character from Mob Psycho 100

Mob Psycho 100
If you’re looking for something that fits you, then Mob Psycho 100 is right up your alley. The protagonist, nicknamed Mob, is much like you in that they embody duality. In one moment, he can appear calm and devoid of emotion. Yet, once he gets overwhelmed, he becomes extremely expressive with intense emotions (like anger and rage), all the while making use of his extraordinary powers. Mob must navigate life between these two natures. He constantly must keep himself held back to prevent his overwhelming power from spilling out, all the while living life as an average middle schooler. With all that said, we think you’re in for quite a ride with this one, Gemini.

CANCER

Characters from Anohana

Anohana
Oh sweet Cancer, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day is the anime that is just for you. It’s the best possible combination of sad and comforting, one that’ll be tugging at your heart strings as much as it brings a smile. Anohana is about the coming together of a group of old elementary school friends who have drifted apart, five years later. It showcases the highs and lows of the lives its members, with each one having reacted differently to their falling out. Although some would say this is one of the sadder anime out there, it is absolutely worth the watch for the journey it’ll take you on.

LEO

Goku from Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z
Picture this: a bunch of dudes (and also some of them are aliens) growing their hair out, making it change colours, and showing off their muscles and their moves just for the thrill of the battle. Also, imagine being so powerful that if people are within a certain radius, they just immediately become aware that you exist and that you are fighting nearby. Nothing in Dragon Ball Z can be rushed, dear Leo, and we know you can’t be either—if it takes three episodes to get yourself ready to do the next big thing, so be it! We are all truly just working on our next Spirit Bomb and manifesting the collective energy of the earth, you know?

VIRGO

Character from The Way of the Househusband

The Way of the Househusband
Virgo, we know you are always looking for organizational inspiration, so we brought this recommendation out just for you. The Way of the Househusband is the story of a former Yakuza boss who brings that same attitude to doing household chores. He doesn’t settle for a bad deal, he insists on perfection from those around him, and when he does something, he makes sure he does it right the first time. Sound familiar?

LIBRA

Characters from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
One thing that we know about you, Libra, is that you prioritize balance. The anime that would be perfect for you, then, is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Setting aside its excellent narrative and great characters, this anime is notable for featuring alchemy, a way for characters to manipulate and alter matter. One of the foundational rules of alchemy is the Principle of Equivalent Exchange, which states that for something to be created with alchemy, something of equal value must be given or lost. If that concept fascinates you, then you should take your first steps into the expansive world of Fullmetal.

SCORPIO

Characters from Death Note

Death Note
Dear Scorpio, there's a lot of anime out there that you’d enjoy, but we’re going to focus on just one: Death Note. You are a little intense (and more than a little obsessed with death and revenge)—luckily for you, so is this show. Death Note is all about different dyads: will L catch Light? Will Ryuk collect Light’s soul? Will the Death Note lead to Light’s end? Every dynamic is a fatal cat-and-mouse chase. Sound good? We know it does.

SAGITTARIUS

Character from Kino’s Journey

Kino’s Journey
We know you love to travel and experience new things so we are bringing you a show that will scratch that itch. Kino’s Journey is about a traveler who never stays somewhere longer than 3 days and travels with a talking motorcycle named Hermes (messenger God, anyone?). They never stay for long, they meet tons of new people, and they fundamentally believe, as we know you do, that the best thing of all might just be around the next corner. Ride on, dear Sag.

CAPRICORN

Naruto from Naruto

Naruto
Look, you may have seen this one already, but we don’t care—it’s a classic for a reason and it’s definitely worth a re-watch. Capricorn, let us introduce/re-introduce you to the world of Naruto. Naruto himself is like you: ambitious, stubborn, and wants to achieve his goals (in this case, becoming the head of his village even though no one else thinks he can do it). His catchphrase, “Believe it!” is a sign of how he lives his life: manifest success at all costs. We know you’ll be picking up this series very soon Capricorn, believe it.

AQUARIUS

Characters from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
Aquarius, if you live life by the principle of simply being built different, then Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is the right anime for you. While it is undoubtedly one that you have heard of, few truly understand what the show is about. Its six parts are all wildly different from one another, each one being an adventure of their own featuring an eccentric cast of characters complemented by their strange powers. In fact, trying to describe each of the parts here would be impractical. So why not take the plunge and give it a try? Plus, this way, you’ll finally understand all the memes about it too.
