Cosplayer Of The Month - Stavvy Cosplay

Welcome to Cosplayer of the Month, where we feature an incredible cosplayer from our community of fans and learn about who they are beneath the surface and, ahem, WORBLA. This month, we have Stavvy Cosplay!

Follow Stavvy Cosplay to stay connected:

What city are you based in?

Toronto, ON.

Can you tell us about your first cosplay?

I’ve been dressing up for as long as I can remember, but my first “official” cosplay was in 2012 and it was Lust from FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I worked with my grandmother to bring her to life and I haven’t looked back since!

Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?

I’m most proud of all my self-shot projects since most of them are crafted and made up of things I already had on hand. I find that I have the most fun getting creative with the things already in my closet and repurposing items and wigs for different looks.

What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?

I’ve never thought of it that way, cosplay has always been a creative outlet for me. My proudest achievement would have to be all the friendships I’ve made.

Is there a cosplayer that you look up to or inspires you?

It’s hard to single out just one cosplayer, the community in Toronto is truly amazing. I’d have to say that I always look forward to posts from @borealis_cosplay and @esthervallins they both work really hard and are super talented!

If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?

My biggest piece of advice is to just go for it and have fun! At the end of the day, we’re all just fans dressing up as our favourite characters.

Do you have any "Cosplans" for 2021?

That is a tough question to answer based on how 2020 played out. I don’t have any specific cosplays planned for this year. I just hope to do as many creative projects as I can and I hope to focus on more face and body paint projects!
