Spotlight: VAMP

1. Introduce yourselves, please! Who are you and what do you do?  

VAMP is a makeup career training school located in Orlando, Florida that opened in 2016.  We offer courses that focus on both special effects makeup and fabrication techniques, as well as beauty and corrective makeup.  The VAMP team met working in the makeup department at Universal Orlando for events like Halloween Horror Nights and Grinchmas.

2. What can fans expect to see at MEGACON Orlando from you?   

We are going to be doing several different makeup demonstrations throughout the weekend, both at our booth and during some of the panels.  We are planning to recreate some of our favorite movie characters that we think MEGACON Orlando fans are going to love seeing in person, so make sure to swing by and check out what we are working on throughout the weekend! 

3. When it comes to horror makeup – are there any strange, “trust me, it works!” tips for cosplayers and aspiring artists?  

There are so many tips we could give! It’s incredibly hard to choose just one.  But, since this is for aspiring makeup artists and cosplayers, our best advice is to use makeup fixing spray after your finish your makeup.  Especially when you are attending a show in Florida, or anywhere warm, make sure you use a product like PPI Green Marble Sealer to preserve your hard work and keep your makeup looking fresh for photos all day.  It makes a HUGE difference.  And if you don’t have a makeup sealer on hand…. Hairspray works in a pinch!

4. What’s one thing every makeup artist should have in their kit?  

In the post-2020 world, we would have to say sanitation products!  Keeping your products and kit clean and sanitized are so important to not only the health of your clients but also your personal health.  As far as a makeup product goes, having a makeup palette with prime colors in it is also key because with primary colors you can mix and create almost any color you need.  Our favorite cream makeups are made by RCMA, and it’s what we put in all of our student kits at VAMP.
