What city are you based in?
Orlando, FL.
Can you tell us about your first cosplay?
My first official cosplay was back in 2018. At the time I was so engaged in watching anime. The anime I fell in love with was Naruto and Naruto Uzumaki became my first cosplay. Being a huge fan of Naruto since I was younger gave me a boost of motivation in life and made me want to cosplay. I still watch the series now!
Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?
A cosplay piece that I am most proud of is Miles Morales (Spider-Man). When Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse came out in theaters back in 2018, a group of friends and I went to see the movie. After seeing the movie they told me to cosplay as Miles Morales. When I got my first Spider-Man suit, I debuted my Spider-Man cosplay on TikTok. Over a year later, I assembled over 1 million followers on TikTok and Miles Morales was a huge reason for the success on the platform.
What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?
What I hope to achieve through cosplay is to make a difference and change the narrative of how race within the cosplay community is. No matter what race you are, everyone should have that opportunity to express themselves without being discriminated against for their race. Equality is important in today’s age, especially in cosplay. Cosplay is for everyone and making the world a better place is an important pursuit.
Is there a local cosplayer that you look up to or inspires you?
A local cosplayer that I looked up to ever since I started is my friend @MeganJaneArt. I met her for the first time at MEGACON Orlando back in 2019. Throughout my cosplay journey, she helped me out a lot with making my cosplays look better.
If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?
The advice I would give to new cosplayers is to do what you love because doing what you love is where happiness lives.
Do you have any “Cosplans” for 2021?
The “Cosplans” I have for 2021 is classified but will be announced soon. I’m looking forward to diving into different movies, TV shows, and more within cosplay. I’m excited for what comes next.
