(C) ONLINE PRESS: Passes for Online Press will be issued on a limited basis making it difficult to grant passes to everyone who makes a request. In order to be considered for credentials you must meet the following criteria:
- The website you write for must have been active on the web for at least two years.
- Must have original content updated at least weekly.
- Must appear on at least page two of a Google search for your site.
- Must demonstrate that your reach/following is significant and/or growing. Please include verifiable UMV and/or links to social media pages (Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter, TikTok or Instagram).
Online Press is limited to two passes per web outlet, and both pass holders must work for the website in question and have verifiable credentials.
NOTE: If you are not approved for press credentials, you may still purchase a ticket to the show and report on the show that way. As well, having a press badge does not guarantee any interviews. All interviews with celebrity guests must be organized via the press team.
5 Important Rules for On-Site Media at FAN EXPO San Francisco
Media Passes
Media Passes must be worn at all times. Respect the responsibility of this pass: follow the rules and ask the on-site media team if you have any questions or concerns about your access or activities on-site.
Interviews
Please work directly with Cosplayers, Authors, Vendors and Creators when scheduling and coordinating logistics for on-site interviews in advance of FAN EXPO San Francisco.
Each and every interview with a FAN EXPO San Francisco representative (including crew members) and/or FAN EXPO invited Celebrity Guest must be pre-approved and arranged by the Media Team in advance of the show. Celebrity interviews are very limited, and therefore not guaranteed. Any "drive-by" or unapproved interviews are strictly forbidden and will result in eviction from the show.
Shooting Distance
Photographers and camera operators must be at least 12 feet away from any invited Guest (Media Guests, Creator Guests, etc.). Please inquire via the crew member assisting the Guest if you may photograph or film them first. You are required to stop filming/shooting if asked.
Camera Set-up
Camera crews are free to roam the show floor, but cannot set up equipment in a fixed manner without pre-approval/supervision by the on-site Media Team. We want to ensure guests can still flow through the show easily.
Covering Events & Panels
FAN EXPO San Francisco does not provide designated seating areas for media at panels/workshops/special events, and recording these events is prohibited. If you wish to attend/cover a panel/workshop/special event, please make arrangements with the on-site Media Team. In most cases, they’re able to arrange for seats on a case-by-case basis with advance notice. In most cases, recording is permitted for the first 3-5 minutes of a panel (from behind the first row); please confirm with the on-site Media Team and respect the special instructions of the crew members operating each room/event.
Note: Permission must be obtained from FAN EXPO San Francisco for videotaping, filming or recording that will be used for commercial (non-media) purposes (private documentaries). Please specify this in your media request.
