FAN MEETUP RECAP: Bi-Monthly Cosplay MakerSpace
Written By Elizabeth Smock (Fan Meetups Ambassador, Orlando Chapter)
The first-ever meet-up I hosted for FAN EXPO was a meet & greet with Snarky Jay Cosplay, and we had such a wonderful time, the group decided we should plan a regular time to meet and work on our cosplays. Since then, I've hosted five Cosplay MakerSpace meet-ups, with groups ranging from just one or two joining up to seven or eight guests. We all understand the need to create "me-time" in our busy schedules, so we meet every first and third Tuesday of the month for an hour. We chat about costuming and cosplay and we learn from each other as we work on various projects. Sometimes we help each other with ideas, sometimes we talk about cons we've attended or past cosplay successes and learning experiences, and we always have a good time. The point is really just to make time for our hobbies and get to know like-minded cosplayers. The group is still small, but we're beginning to get a few regulars and we're getting to know each other. Once MEGACON returns, we're planning a meet-up for the group so we can get photos! Don't miss our next Cosplay MakerSpace on December 15th! RSVP here.
