FAN-TASTY TEST KITCHEN
Grogu's Classroom Cookies
It’s been a few months now since the force-sensitive troublemaker, Grogu, graced our screens – and for that reason, I have decided to pay homage to his legacy by recreating the coveted blue “cookie” as seen on the Mandalorian. After a few Bad Batch(es), I was finally able to enjoy a piece of our beloved Star Wars Universe from home.
This is the Way
140G almond flour
130 G powdered sugar
100G of egg whites
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
90G granulated sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon fruit extract of your choice
Blue food coloring
Let the Force Guide You
Sift your almond flour and powdered sugar together in a food processor and mix for about a minute. As the sugar dust settles, do it again. This process needs to be repeated about as many times as it took for Han to fly the Kessel run (okay, not that long).
Once your stardust becomes microscopic, use the force to measure out 100G of egg whites and leave the yolks for later. Make sure Grogu doesn’t snag a few while you’re busy...we all know what happened last time.
In your mixing bowl, blend together the egg whites with your cream of tartar, while slowly adding your granulated sugar. Do this until you’ve created stiff peaks like the snowy peaks of Hoth. After creating a blizzard in your bowl, add the vanilla extract along with your choice of fruit extract. It’s challenging to create a light-blue color, so make sure not to add too much food coloring. Keep whipping.
Once your whipped cream is fully whipped, slowly sifting your dry mixture into the same bowl and mix. At this point, it should start to create a thick blended “dough” that will be perfect for our cookie base – more on that later.
Using a piping bag or a delicate spoon, and forge equal-sized circular disks on a baking sheet (made from Beskar steel ONLY. That way, your sheet can handle the extreme heat of Mustafar..or your conventional oven). Leave these space disks out for 30 minutes, uncovered. After 30 minutes, place the cookies in the oven at 300 degrees for 10 minutes rotating once halfway through.
Remove your Baby Yoda cookies from the oven, set them aside to cool. Keeps for about 1 week in an airtight bag. The perfect sweet treat for any space voyage.
