Team Picks: Fantastical Creatures
Here at the FAN EXPO HQ, our team is always nerding out over the world of fandom. On Team Picks, we share some of our favorite things we’ve been watching, reading and playing. This month, we’re looking back at some fantastical creatures.
Books, TV shows, and movies are full of improbable things—including all sorts of creatures that support the main characters on their quests. Today, we’re asking the team: which one of those creatures would have made the best childhood pet?
Here are this month’s picks:
Artax
Alan
Project Manager
Artax, Atreyu's horse from The Neverending Story. He was a brave and wonderful partner and after all the support and adventures, he dies in the swamp of sadness … out of deep sadness! I wanted to bring him home and make him happy again. Sure, in the movie he's revived by the end, but man!
Gryphons
Nirushan
Digital Manager
Gryphons from Narnia. They would have made the most fun childhood pet because that would have meant no bussing or walking to school and the mall. Flying in style!
Flubber
Lizzie
Operations Coordinator
Not exactly fantastical but rather scientifically improbable: I always thought Flubber from Flubber would have been a fun sidekick. We would have got in even more trouble at school together, but at least then detentions wouldn’t have been so boring (cue Flubber dance sequence).
Porkchop
Jay
Senior Operations Manager
Porkchop from Doug. A dog that talks and actually does stuff! I liked him because they portrayed him like a normal human being and friend. He was actually a really good friend to Doug.
