Cosplayer Of The Month Questions

What city are you based in?

I am from Montreal! I’ve lived here my whole life, and even though I’ve had the chance to visit other places I don’t think I’ll live somewhere else.

Can you tell us about your first cosplay?

My very first cosplay was Ana Amari from Overwatch! More precisely the Uprising skin because I was cosplaying with my best friend who did an amazing Uprising Mercy. She had more cosplaying experience then I did so she did the coats while I helped out with the props.

Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?

I think the few accessories I made for my Bowsette are still some of my favourite work! She is one of my favourite cosplays, and thanks to her I got to learn a few new techniques like working with pleater and foam clay!

What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?

I started cosplay almost 3 years ago with my best friend. It was mostly to spend more time with someone I loved and did not see enough. Now I create videos and share my cosplays online to connect with people who share the same interests as me!

Is there a cosplayer that you look up to or inspires you?

Cosplay has brought me so much these past few years! I would say the people who inspire me the most are my mutuals because they all share the deep passion for cosplay, art, and entertainment as I do. Cosplayers like Stevie.Bones or TheAzrai always amaze me with the quality of their content but also how wonderful of a human being they are. Personally, I truly look up to people who take pride in their craft but also take the time to be true to themselves and be kind to others.

If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?

As silly as it’s going to sound, I would say: “Cosplay is for fun”. Don’t beat yourself up because the makeup is not perfect, or because your outfit is not exactly the one from the show or the game. I want cosplay to be more accessible! Normalize closet cosplay, and just enjoy dressing up! Letting go makes us so much more creative and resourceful.

What would you say is the hardest part of cosplaying?

The procrastination! Like anything else, it is not always easy to stay motivated and keep creating. That is why I consider myself so lucky to have so many friends that inspire me and encourage me in my projects!

In honor of spooky season, what are you being for Halloween?

I will be the Night, I will be Vengeance, I will be… Batman. It’s a dream cosplay of mine, and now that I have received my costume I’m always wearing that cosplay.
