Cosplayer Of The Month Questions
What city are you based in?
I’m based in Edmonton!
Can you tell us about your first cosplay?
My first cosplay was done for Edmonton Expo 2012, I was told I needed a cosplay to go to the con in. So I managed to find everything & put Zatanna together in less than a month!
Do you have a cosplay piece that you are most proud of?
Just one. I’m really proud of all my Leafeon armour. It was my second armour build and it fit and photographed beautifully.
What do you hope to achieve through cosplay?
To have fun, further my creative skills & make a living off of the work I do. Even if it’s just a part-time endeavour.
Is there a cosplayer that you look up to or inspires you?
So many! Jessica Nigri, Bec of Hearts, Kamui Cosplay and many others.
If you could give any piece of advice to new cosplayers, what would it be?
Jump in! Put something together, in whatever way you can, do it again and again and again. Every time you create a cosplay look you will learn so much about creating, building, visual design, and yourself. It’s so much fun and it’s a huge self esteem booster. Jump in, you won’t regret it (But your wallet might!)
What would you say is the hardest part of cosplaying?
Finances. I like to go all in, which means I go a little crazier then I should. But it’s all good, I’m enjoying myself.
In honor of spooky season, what are you being for Halloween?
Oh! I have plans for the Fembots from Austin Powers, Wednesday Adams, Autumn Poison Ivy, and probably more, I haven’t decided yet.
